William T. (Ted) Mason III, president and chief executive officer of LaPorte CPAs & Business Advisors, has been selected as one of New Orleans’ top financial professionals by business publication CityBusiness.

Mason is one of 50 honorees in four categories of MoneyMakers – whose leadership, management and fiscal accomplishments have not only set the pace for their company but the region as a whole.  The MoneyMakers honorees represent the Banking, Corporate, Investment and Professional sectors – based on their industry and community involvement and achievement through their energy and innovative ideas.

He is one of 11 leaders selected in the professional category that includes public accountants, auditors, financial educators and financial analysts.

Since assuming leadership of LaPorte in 2002, Mason has led the firm through a decade of unprecedented growth – from a $6M, 40-person professional accounting firm to a $23M, 160-person firm.  Over the same period, LaPorte CPAs & Business Advisors has advanced from a top 400 accounting firm nationally – according to INSIDE Public Accounting – to the 134th largest firm in terms of growth and revenue in 2011.

In March, LaPorte was named one of 19 national firms to watch by Accounting Today – the only LA firm included in this list of rising CPA firms.  INSIDE Public Accounting named LaPorte CPAs & Business Advisors to its national list of ‘Top 200 Accounting Firms” for 2011.  Additionally, LaPorte has been named one of the ‘Best Accounting Firms to Work For’ for the past four years by the Best Companies Media Group and Accounting Today.
