Randy C. Buckner, CPA, CGMA



Randy serves as LaPorte’s director of quality control, responsible for overseeing the firm’s compliance with industry professional standards for quality. He joined the firm in 1993 and since then has focused on providing employee benefit plan audits as well as audit and assurance services to healthcare entities. Randy has also served privately held businesses, nonprofits, state and local governments, and construction contractors.

His services to these clients have included financial statement and federal single audits, testing of internal controls, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Additional services that Randy provides his clients include employee benefit plan audits, controllership functions, assistance with bond issues, and the issuance of comfort letters.


Randy has supervised LaPorte’s audit and consulting services for defined contribution, defined benefit retirement, and health and welfare plans. The employee benefit plan clients he serves have plan assets ranging from $750,000 to over $420,000,000. Randy has earned the Advanced Defined Contribution Plans Audit Certification from the AICPA. He is one of several key leaders on our Employee Benefit Plan industry team.


Randy is also a member of the LaPorte Healthcare Industry Group and supervises the audits of acute care hospitals, large health systems, ambulatory surgery centers, rehabilitation and long-term acute care facilities, federally qualified community health centers, and trade associations. He also leverages his years of experience to consult regularly with engagement teams and Louisiana Legislative Auditor staff to facilitate the resolution of difficult areas of client accounting and compliance matters as they arise.

Throughout the pandemic, Randy has served as LaPorte’s principal contact with RSM’s AICPA Healthcare Expert Panel to monitor the changing regulatory environment regarding Provider Relief Funds and other forms of federal and state government assistance.
