Terri A. Troyer, CPA

ABOUT TERRI

Since Terri began her professional career in 1988, she has gained in-depth experience in corporate taxation, IRS audits, and individual tax and compliance planning for individuals and businesses. She has handled tax matters for management companies, transportation companies, pass-through entities, partnerships, LLCs, S corporations, commercial and residential real estate developers, and nonprofit organizations. Terri has proactively worked with many of the firm’s clients in areas such as multistate nexus studies, compensation planning, mergers and acquisitions, real estate cost segregation studies, and federal and state tax credits. Terri regularly attends tax-related conferences at New York University School of Law, Georgetown Law Center, and Vanderbilt University Law School. She also attends presentations by the American Bar Association. Terri’s client experience includes tax compliance, research, planning, and consulting. Her current clients include several large family groups for which she provides individual and business compliance services, as well as consulting on planning for business structures and general business planning.

MULTISTATE TAX SERVICES

Terri is LaPorte’s leader of Multistate Tax Services, and her experience includes adding value for clients through addressing multistate income and franchise tax controversy issues. Her multistate taxation experience includes several clients with activities in all 50 states. Terri completed State and Local Taxation Boot Camp, designed for RSM US Alliance multistate taxation professionals, and she is a member of the firm’s State and Local Tax (SALT) group.

NONPROFIT

Terri is a member of the Nonprofit Industry Group. She handles tax matters involving nonprofit organizations, working on annual Form 990 filings and with donors to implement the formation of charitable giving arrangements.

REAL ESTATE

Terri also has decades of experience in the areas of real estate accounting, taxation, and planning. Taxation of flow-through entities is one of her primary areas of expertise. Terri has worked with developers and with owners of multi-family housing projects, storage facilities, shopping centers, and office buildings. She has extensive experience in transaction structuring; acquisition and disposition planning; and entity of choice, at-risk, and basis issues. Terri also has experience in special tax allocations, 1031 exchanges, and other specialized areas of real estate taxation. She is a member of the LaPorte Real Estate Industry Group.
