Michael “Mickey” Simon, CPA



Mickey’s broad experience at LaPorte has included nonprofit and governmental entities, construction contractors, and various private businesses. His services to these clients have included performing and managing audits, audits of federal awards in accordance with Uniform Guidance, and agreed-upon procedures. Mickey has completed internal control reviews and assisted clients with internal accounting issues as well. He is also a regular contributor to LaPorte blogs. Mickey began his professional career in 2007. Prior to joining LaPorte, he was a high school mathematics teacher and a financial advisor.


A co-leader of LaPorte’s Public Sector Industry Group, Mickey performs and reviews audits, including single audits, for governmental entities. His range of public sector clients includes Louisiana school boards, courts, and special purpose commissions, among others.


Mickey’s nonprofit experience principally focuses on audits of various types of public and private foundations. Mickey is a member of the LaPorte Nonprofit Industry Group.
