At LaPorte, our employees are more than just part of the team—they’re the heart of everything we do. Each individual brings unique skills, experiences, and passions that drive our success and enrich our workplace culture. In our “Faces of LaPorte” series, we’re shining a spotlight on the talented individuals who make LaPorte an exceptional place to work and grow. Through their stories, we aim to celebrate the diverse backgrounds, achievements, and contributions of our team members, giving you a closer look at the people who power our company every day.

When you first chose LaPorte, were there any conversations, events, or people early on that convinced you LaPorte was the right fit?

When I first joined LaPorte, we assigned everyone a coach and I lucked out and got the best–Sarah Franatovich! She has always given me great feedback and pushed me to be better. It is so comforting to have someone in your corner at work.

What part of your work makes you excited to come in–even on a Monday?

I love all the variety. I get to work with talented folks from all of our offices and departments. I enjoy getting to know my clients and assisting them with new opportunities and challenges.

After all this time, what keeps you committed to LaPorte?

LaPorte has really invested in me and contributed to my growth. They have training programs that cover the softer skills needed to flourish in public accounting. I can think of many times that folks here went out of their way to help me and I am tremendously grateful.

What advice would you give someone just starting at LaPorte to help them thrive?

Ask questions and meet your coworkers! The people of LaPorte are so supportive of each other and they want you to feel secure and succeed.

Can you describe a memorable Mardi Gras parade experience where your team’s performance felt especially rewarding? What lessons from that parade translate back into your day-to-day work?

A memorable Mardi Gras parade for me was Chewbacchus 2022. It was the first time back since COVID. We had a large squad and well-rehearsed routines. The videos were spectacular! The lessons I took away from this event are patience and practice. The more you invest in yourself, the better you will become.

In moments when you need to de-stress, does hula-hooping ever serve as a creative outlet that helps improve your work life?

Hula-hooping really does help me de-stress. A short break from work provides a mental reset, and movement and exercise perk you up and get your blood flowing. Once refreshed, it’s easy to return to your tasks with a brighter outlook.

Your Mardi Gras team likely has a strong sense of camaraderie. Does that communal spirit influence the way you collaborate with your LaPorte colleagues?

Whether it be hula-hooping or accounting, working on a team opens you up to be more understanding. Everyone is unique and that should be considered when tackling a project with others.
