At LaPorte, our employees are more than just part of the team—they’re the heart of everything we do. Each individual brings unique skills, experiences, and passions that drive our success and enrich our workplace culture. In our “Faces of LaPorte” series, we’re shining a spotlight on the talented individuals who make LaPorte an exceptional place to work and grow. Through their stories, we aim to celebrate the diverse backgrounds, achievements, and contributions of our team members, giving you a closer look at the people who power our company every day.
Nicholas’s journey with LaPorte began as an intern two years ago and has since blossomed into a full-time staff auditor position. Reflecting on his path, he shares valuable insights into his experiences and the culture that makes LaPorte unique. Nicholas works in the Covington office, contributing to the firm’s team-oriented environment. We are excited to introduce Nicholas Pregeant as our next Faces of LaPorte.
His story began during his time at Southeastern University, where he participated in a speed interviewing event that would set the stage for his future career. “I was in the second semester of my undergraduate degree, and they had speed interviewing,” Nicholas recalls. Initially, he attended the event with low expectations; however, his encounter with LaPorte proved to be a game-changer. “I went not expecting to really make any connections, but I ended up connecting with LaPorte,” he says.
What set LaPorte apart from other employers, according to Nicholas, was the firm’s focus on the person behind the resume. “You’re walking around and you’re meeting a lot of different employers, and the first thing they ask is the quantitative accomplishments that you have, but with LaPorte, it was different. They wanted to learn about me, Nicholas Pregeant, the person, as opposed to me, Nicholas Pregeant, the product,” he explains.
Beyond professional growth, Nicholas takes great pride in the relationships he has built within the office. “I’m most proud of the personal relationships that I feel like I’ve helped foster in the office place,” he shares. “We talk to each other, not just at the office, but in our personal lives as well,” Nicholas adds, highlighting LaPorte’s friendly atmosphere.
When reflecting on the most important lessons he’s learned so far, Nicholas emphasizes the value of consistency. “It’s not something you can just apply in the workplace; it’s something you can apply in all areas of your life,” he explains. “I mean, your physical life, your personal life, anything you want to get better at. Space repetition is incredibly important.”
In addition to the personal growth he’s experienced, Nicholas also credits LaPorte’s unique ability to utilize the strengths of its team members. “I think LaPorte’s superpower is the ability to align individuals’ talents in a way that furthers the success of the company,” Nicholas reflects. “No matter what you’re good at or what you like to do, you can find a place doing that here.”
From a humble start as an intern to becoming a staff auditor, Nicholas Pregeant’s story is a testament to the power of personal connections, the importance of consistency, and the growth-oriented culture at LaPorte.
