Through their stories, we aim to celebrate the diverse backgrounds, achievements, and contributions of our team members, giving you a closer look at the people who power our company every day.

Linda Ricard’s career path has been anything but ordinary. From competing in the 2004 Athens Olympics to managing tax and accounting services at LaPorte’s Baton Rouge office, her journey is a testament to hard work, adaptability, and a passion for excellence. We are proud to introduce Linda Ricard, CPA, MACCT, as one of our Faces of LaPorte.

Linda joined LaPorte four years ago as a tax manager, bringing with her years of experience from another CPA firm. Initially focused solely on tax services, she later expanded her role to include accounting services, broadening the skills she brings to client engagements.

Her decision to join LaPorte was influenced by recommendations from acquaintances. “I had a few friends who worked here, and they always spoke very highly of LaPorte,” she says. “I was looking for a change from where I previously worked, so I reached out to them. Everything they said was so positive. They just kept it real, and I’m glad I made the decision to come over.”

Linda’s story began in Trinidad and Tobago, where she spent her childhood before moving to the U.S. to attend Tulane University. There, she earned both her undergraduate degree in business and a Master’s of Accounting—all while competing as a collegiate swimmer.

Her athletic career reached its pinnacle when she competed in the 2004 Athens Olympics, representing Trinidad and Tobago in swimming. “One interesting thing about me is that I qualified for the 2004 Athens Olympics for swimming,” she shares.

“I was able to make the qualifying time, so I went. It was fabulous—an amazing experience. One of my best friends had also qualified, so we had a really good time. Swimming was one of the first events, so after I competed, I got to stay for the entire Olympics and explore Athens.”

While her journey has taken her across oceans and through different professional settings, Linda has found a true sense of belonging at LaPorte. She credits her coworkers as one of the biggest reasons she enjoys her job.

“What I really enjoy about working here at LaPorte is my coworkers. I really, genuinely like the people that I work with,” she says. “It makes a big difference to me when you like the people you work with and respect them as well.”

As she looks ahead, Linda remains committed to her role and values the relationships she has built at LaPorte. With her unique background and passion for her work, she continues to make a lasting impact both inside and outside the firm.
