At LaPorte, our employees are more than just part of the team—they’re at the heart of everything we do. Each individual brings unique skills, experiences, and passions that drive our success and enrich our workplace culture. In our “Faces of LaPorte” series, we’re shining a spotlight on the talented individuals who make LaPorte an exceptional place to work and grow. Through their stories, we aim to celebrate the diverse backgrounds, achievements, and contributions of our team members, giving you a closer look at the people who power our company every day.
Camille Kent has found the perfect balance between her professional aspirations, family life, and personal passions. As a Manager in the Client Accounting & Advisory Services department at LaPorte’s Covington office, she has been with the company for about five years. Her career journey, however, began in 2012 at a large firm in Atlanta, Georgia.
“I wasn’t loving what I was doing,” Camille recalls. “It was just a different culture, different environment.” Her search for a better fit led her to a conversation with Chav Pierce, the head of the tax department at LaPorte. “I found it would be a good fit for me to try. So I came to LaPorte and haven’t looked back.”
Beyond her role in accounting, Camille and her husband have embarked on a passion project—designing and creating hunting clothes for kids. “We’ve been doing it for about four years now,” she says. Hunting has always been a significant part of her life. “I grew up hunting with my dad, and my husband grew up hunting with his family. Both of our families are big hunting families.”
The idea for their business stemmed from a realization that there was a gap in the market. “As I’ve had kids and as my niece and nephew have started hunting, we realized there was a lack in the market for that type of gear that we were specifically looking for,” she explains. “So we were just like, ‘Hey, why don’t we do it?’” It has since grown into a side business that allows Camille and her husband, David, also a LaPorte employee, to pursue their passion for the outdoors.
Camille credits LaPorte for allowing her to maintain a healthy work-life balance. “I have two little kids, and it’s really important for me to be present in their lives and to be a mom,” she emphasizes. LaPorte is flexible with scheduling, and many employees work in hybrid or remote roles, which helps support a variety of personal and professional needs.
Another key reason she stays at LaPorte is the people. “I genuinely connect with all of my coworkers in the Covington office. I feel like I can walk up and talk to anyone, and I know that’s special.”
For Camille, her colleagues are more than just coworkers. “These people aren’t just coworkers—I genuinely consider some of them friends. And so, I just love that. I love being able to come to a place where I know I can have balance and I know that the people around me are more than just the average coworker.”
Camille Kent’s story is a testament to the power of finding the right workplace culture, pursuing personal passions, and fostering meaningful relationships. Her journey at LaPorte is not just about accounting—it’s about creating a fulfilling life both inside and outside of work.
