ABOUT JOHN
John has focused on serving nonprofit and public sector clients throughout his career and possesses a thorough knowledge of federal and state programs. He also has a significant educational practice. John has been performing charter school audits since the inception of the charter school movement in Louisiana. In fact, he oversees most of LaPorte’s charter school engagements as well as several parish school board engagements.
John’s client services include planning and coordinating audits, addressing bond issues, designing and testing compliance of internal controls, conducting audits according to Government Auditing Standards, and reporting related to numerous Uniform Guidance single audits each year for his governmental and nonprofit clients. John began his professional career in 1992 and joined LaPorte several years later.
NONPROFIT
John is a longtime member of the Nonprofit Industry Group and has served as engagement leader for the audits of many of the firm’s largest nonprofit organizations. During his public accounting career, he has conducted and managed audits of a variety of nonprofit entities, including conducting numerous single audits for those clients meeting the federal expenditure requirement.
John has been performing charter school audits since 2002 (the inception of the charter school movement) and has served on all of the firm’s charter school engagements.
PUBLIC SECTOR
A leader in the Public Sector Industry Group and a certified government financial manager, John has conducted and managed audits for a wide variety of entities, including local governments and municipalities, parishes, sheriff’s offices, school boards, and various special districts. He oversees 25 to 30 audits each year that comply with Governmental Auditing Standards. John is also responsible for testing major federal grant program compliance with requirements described in the US Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Compliance Supplement.
