Connor Brown, CPA

ABOUT CONNOR

Connor began his professional career in 1997 and joined LaPorte in 2019. He provides tax compliance and planning services to his clients, with a focus on small business advisory services, closely held business succession planning services, and individual tax planning services for business clients’ shareholders and owners. Connor has served a variety of clients over the years and has extensive and diverse public accounting experience in both the audit and tax arenas. He has worked at a large regional CPA firm, a small local firm, and a multinational joint venture as a member of its senior management.

PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

Connor is a co-leader of LaPorte’s Professional Services Industry Group. Based on his broad range of experience, he can provide unique insights addressing his clients’ challenges and opportunities. Connor has advised clients in the fields of architecture, dentistry, engineering, investment advisory services, law, medicine, and veterinary medicine. He has advised on industry-specific accounting methods, partner buy/sell agreements, business continuity, succession planning, cash management, and business management using key performance indicators. For Connor’s law firm clients specifically, he regularly consults on partner capital account issues, partner compensation, and law firm tax planning strategies.

CONSTRUCTION

Using the lessons learned from decades of experience, Connor helps his clients navigate the issues that face contractors. These include job costing, revenue recognition, changes to the available methods of tax accounting brought about by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, and strategies to help contractors take advantage of the §199A Qualified Business Income Deduction. A member of LaPorte’s Construction Industry Group, he has experience with large general contractors, specialty oil rig construction contractors, and single-family dwelling/residential renovation contractors.

REAL ESTATE

A member of LaPorte’s Real Estate Industry Group, Connor serves clients as diverse as the real estate they own, including large apartment complexes, commercial buildings, warehouse space, and single family homes. He has helped numerous real estate clients generate tax savings through cost segregation studies and other tax planning measures.
