A firm calling itself Corporate Records Service is causing confusion for businesses in many states, including Texas and Louisiana. The company is sending out a document that seeks to collect $125 from companies in order to “prepare and provide corporate minutes” that meet state requirements. Although the document provides a disclaimer that it does not have a contract with any government agency to provide this service, it is formatted to mimic an official government document. Filing forms with Corporate Records Service will not satisfy state requirements for Louisiana or Texas.
Although initial reports of this scam cropped up earlier this year, companies continue to receive these notices. For additional information, please contact Kevin Hand, Director of Accounting Services.
