Lanaux & Felger, CPAs, APC Announces Intent to Merge with LaPorte CPAs & Business Advisors

(Houma, LA, October 9, 2017) Local CPA firm Lanaux & Felger, CPAs, APC (Lanaux Felger) has announced its intention to merge with LaPorte CPAs & Business Advisors (LaPorte) following completion of due diligence procedures by both firms, according to Thomas Lanaux, a principal of Lanaux Felger. The merger is scheduled to become official on December 1, 2017.

With the Lanaux Felger merger, LaPorte will have a total staff of over 180 employees and revenues in excess of $28 million. The regional firm serves clients from five fully staffed offices in Houma, Metairie, Baton Rouge, and Covington, Louisiana, and in Houston, Texas. On December 1, Lanaux & Felger and the existing LaPorte Houma practice will consolidate in a new location at 304 Corporate Drive, Suite E, in Houma. Lanaux & Felger principals Thomas Lanaux and Mark Felger will assume key leadership roles as directors in LaPorte, and the combined Houma firms will operate as LaPorte CPAs & Business Advisors.

“The move by LaPorte Houma directors to measure our interest in a merger timed perfectly with our own strategic considerations for Lanaux Felger’s future. The benefits to our firm, clients, and professionals are multifold,” says Lanaux. “We will be able to offer our clients additional services and resources as well as sophisticated technical support to address the needs of working in an increasingly complex industry environment. Our professionals will have access to firm and national continuing professional education courses and more opportunities for career development.” Lanaux adds: “Beyond that, and perhaps most important to us, this is a merger with a firm whose culture and commitment are similar to ours, enabling us to enhance services to our clients as they face industry and regulatory changes.”

According to William “Ted” Mason, LaPorte president and CEO, “With this merger, LaPorte is strengthening our Houma practice and bringing complementary services to an expanded client base. We are very excited that this merger is moving forward so smoothly.” Continuing, Mason states that “Terrebonne, Lafourche, and St. Mary Parishes are strategically and economically important to the state, and we are very proud to be able to build on our presence there.”
